Youth Music Associate, Elijah, recently became the first ever Guest Editor of Resident Advisor magazine.
Elijah has built a reputation for demystifying the music industries over the past year, with his unique ‘yellow squares’ social media campaign. Impressing influential platform Resident Advisor, the content secured him a four-feature series last month.
Across the articles, Elijah’s lifts the lid on topics including the true cost of running a club night, working behind the scenes and adapting your career path.
In his role launching the Youth Music NextGen Fund, which invests in young creatives facing barriers, Elijah saw how a lack of transparency continues to prevent equal access to the music industries.
Elijah says:
“What's most important to me is writing that speaks to a broad audience of creators, artists, students, writers and fans alike to offer insight into the real, current landscape of the music industry. I wanted to include hard numbers, data, money, and information on jobs that will give direction on where we, as a community, need to build next to keep this culture alive and growing, far into the future, with space for voices, sounds and perspectives that haven't historically been amplified.”
