Rhythm Lab Records: Career Starter
Reform Radio handed over their record label, Rhythm Lab Records, to five young people for six months. Having a budget of £400 per artist for five artists that they sign to the label, the group have taken on the roles of A&R, Business Affairs, Talent Development and PR and Marketing. With 100% control of the social media platforms, signings, budget, and key decision making, this truly is a ground-breaking project, offering the young group a once in a lifetime opportunity that will propel them into the Manchester music industry.
Soundcamp
Soundcamp 18 and 2020 is a programme in partnership with Reform Radio and Thirty Pound Gentlemen that aims to discover talent in Greater Manchester. The bootcamp aims to find 12 young people who have shown the potential of making a career in the music industries. They embark on a three-month intense mentorship with working musicians, to create their brand, new music and showcase at an industry event. Since the project began, they have collaborated with Mr Scruff, performed at MIF Festival Square and We Out Here Festival, and tracks have been broadcast on BBC.

Carousel - Carousel House Band

Carousel House Band (CHB) is an integrated ensemble of learning disabled and non-learning-disabled musicians whose ground-breaking work using Figurenotes has included many ambitious and unique projects. CHB designed and built an interactive sculpture called the Sonic Tree, which features a combination of acoustic and digital sound sources. They have developed multiple accessible methods of creating high quality and engaging work which has inspired many other young learning-disabled people to become involved in music and challenged audience expectations of what learning disabled artists can do.

Sound Connections - Wired4Music

Wired4Music is Sound Connections’ flagship programme offering young people aged 16-25 hands on support, mentoring, funding, guidance and training through events and professional development activities. At Wired4Music, everything is led and decided by their network members, from the music internships they share, to the events they promote and projects and experiences they co-create. Throughout the COVID-19 crisis, their work moved online, and they worked with young people to shape the programme to meet their changing needs.
