Youth Music is looking for LGBT+ History Month pitches from young writers and journalists.
Are you a budding writer or journalist based in the UK and aged between 18-25 (up to 30 if d/Deaf, Disabled or neurodivergent)?
We are commissioning written pieces for LGBT+ History Month and want to hear from you!
What to pitch:
We are interested in fascinating, thoughtful personal essays, cultural observation pieces, and stories on the topic of LGBTQIA+ history. The pitches must also be centred around young people and music.
For example:
- Do you have a moving or relatable experience about being an LGBTQIA+ artist/creative?
- Do you want to explore a piece of UK LGBTQIA+ musical history?
- Is there a current LGBTQIA+ topic in the music industries that needs to be spoken about?

How to pitch:
Please complete the form below to answer the following questions:
- Be specific but brief. In a paragraph, tell us exactly what it is you want to create and why. Give us your focus, angle, or argument.
- Share links or clippings of your previous work - this can be content published on other platforms, relevant university/college work, or posts on your own social media (your profile needs to be public for us to view it). We just need to see your skill level and writing style.
- Lastly - tell us a bit about you and why you would be best placed to create this feature.
Fee: £150.
