Incubator Fund Round Two grant recipients

Introducing the recipients to our second round of the Incubator Fund, that provides grants of £5,000 to £30,000 to businesses, collectives, and not-for-profits working in the music industries.

The fund is designed to help open up access to sustainable careers in music for people aged 18-25, particularly those who are underrepresented; and to support creative employers to innovate and incubate new and diverse talent.

Bido Lito! Ideas Ltd

Digital Content Creators

Two participants will create digital content to amplify Bido Lito!’s magazine content online. Following their own creative instincts the team will develop monthly packages to tell the stories behind Liverpool’s most exciting artists. The outputs they creative will be kept as a structure for the magazines monthly digital comms.

BLENDID Media & Artists

Music Industries Insights and Skills Development

This comprehensive varied exciting programme offers 18-25s the opportunity to gain insightful understanding of the music industries. Along with learning new skills and gaining knowledge, 18-25s will enhance their CV's and Career Development, supported with tangible and/or documented digital examples. They'll also have access to valuable contacts with industry professionals.

Community Music Wales

Incubation pilots for Participatory Musicians

This project will support and train musicians who want to expand their career opportunities through developing, devising and delivering their own project initiatives with local community groups of their choice.  This is aimed at inspiring young musicians who want to develop their skills/careers, while expanding their portfolios and earning potential.

CUBE

A/D Garage

A/D Garage is a 10 month live sound and studio engineering training programme for 8 womxn and non-binary people of colour in the Midlands. The programme includes; 8 workshops, 1-1s with industry professionals, paid work experience, shadow studio sessions and opportunities to build networks e.g attending festivals/events.

Culture Deck

Culture Deck Academy

The Culture Deck Academy will be a music enterprise program aimed at young people interested in a career rooted in urban music. The program will provide artists and young people considering careers in other roles with the skills and experience required to enjoy a successful career in music.

Digit Audio Technology Ltd

OVER TO YOU

Over To You, is a 6-month skills training, professional development and mentoring program for emerging young people in their creative fields of music production, education provision and sample label management. As a Disability Confident Employer, our focus is supporting underrepresented young people in becoming the next generation of business leaders.

Platform

Platform is a 16-month skills development project that will employ, support and nurture five emerging creative practitioners, aged 16-25. Participants will conceive and deliver live projects aligned with DMC’s annual programme providing participants with valuable experience and skills, aiding them to construct a portfolio of work across the music industries.

EH-FM Radio C.I.C

Edinbelters Music Show

We want to employ three young people on a freelance basis to devise and deliver an hour-long radio show that focusses on Edinburgh's music scene. The eight-part show would air fortnightly on our radio station, from mid September to mid December, employing the three young people for 23 weeks.

Eistddfod Genedlaethol Cymru National Eisteddfod of Wales

Gigs Ty Nain

Mentoring for Gigs Ty Nain collective allowing them  to organise more events and thus helping to re-energise the Welsh language music scene in North West Wales.  Organisers  will be mentored allowing them to learn new skills and connections for further career ambitions within the music industry.

Fish Factory Arts Space

Womens Music Group - Female and Non-Binary Recording Studio - SIRENS

The setting up and running of Sirens Studio - a female and non-binary run recording studio, with accompanying events, workshops and residencies focusing on training young women and non-binary people in male dominated practices within the music industry such as DJing, music production and live sound.

From The Fields Ltd

SHOUT

SHOUT will support two new promoters in Manchester to build sustainable music promotions businesses by giving them access to training, resources and opportunities, using From The Fields' networks, experience and guidance.

The promoters will be black, Asian or other ethnic minority, which are currently underrepresented in the music promoting industry.

She Don Did IT!

SHE DON DID IT is a 12-month-long project, strategically designed with a six-month incubator programme, pop-up creative centre, work experience, international songwriting camp links, and other opportunities for BAME women aged 18-25 who are not in education or training and are passionate about building a career in the music industry.

Gotobeat Academy

We'll create an Academy for young and underrepresented aspiring promoters. Three 18-25s will receive financial support and mentoring for seven months (after three months of recruiting) to learn how to organise concerts and put on their own series of events under their name and creative terms at our partners' spaces.

We will establish a female focussed record label, managed by two exceptional young creatives. It will offer paid internships/record deals to 3 new artists, one-to-one support/training and single releases. We will also commission other creatives to collaborate with those artists. We will facilitate 3 residential-songwriting camps for forty-five 18-25 songwriters

Lighthouse Harbour Project

A 26 week programme for 6 young people (18-25) from BAME, LSEB or non-graduate backgrounds to provide them with the opportunity to develop the skills, confidence and experience to develop successful, sustainable careers within the music industry. Project elements: individual project, training, mentoring, paid work experience, networking opportunities, holistic support.

‘School of Lockdown’ is a breath of fresh air. Career development incubator for under-represented 18-25s in the music industries.

They lead a 9-month series of hybrid live events/workshops for young people, by young people - with mentoring and global opportunities.

Marsm Young Producers Residency

This is a paid residency for four 18-25-year-olds interested in gaining an entry into the music industry. It involves a structured programme of mentoring and guided project management, offering participants 5 months of training, introductions and mentoring and 7 months' guidance as they develop and manage their own creative projects.

We aim to recruit a group of talented artists who are in need of investment, time, mentoring, budget and experience to take their music to the next level. We will use our contacts to create industry standard music and videos to be released and promoted to help propel their careers.

NARC. Academy (NA) will support 4 young people (YP) to develop skills required for careers in music journalism, publishing and broadcasting. Through mentorship support, workshops and networking, YP will develop skills, knowledge, build a portfolio and contacts facilitating progression into connected careers.

BAME Management Programme

We will develop a management mentoring programme which will develop the skills of six young BAME individuals to develop their skills and abilities in all aspects of music management. Our consultancy work has found that this is the greatest need for BAME individuals working in music making in the region.

Numbers

Numbers x Youth Music

The programme will build skills for four young music professionals and two upcoming artists, guided by Numbers, following the process of releasing music: from sourcing and developing, to promotion and sale. It will provide an opportunity to develop holistic career skills for both music professionals and artists.

GIRLS TO THE FRONT Artist Accelerator Grant

GIRLS TO THE FRONT (GTTF) plans to launch the ‘Artist Accelerator Grant’, a series of grants of  £1000 open to female-identifying artists for a project of their choice. The programme will include one-to-one professional mentoring in addition to optional online networking sessions with GTTF founder and fellow Accelerator Grant recipients.

Inclusive to the Core

Inclusive to the Core will ensure Selextorhood is reaching 18-25s who face intersecting barriers when entering the music industries. Our unique pathways will create jobs for three young womxn/non-binary/trans people and see SLX Scholarships awarded to six underrepresented music producers. Through implementing ITTC we will reach many more young people.

We are looking for three young people who will have the opportunity to; work for the Small Pond Record Label, gaining industry experience in a real world setting and then applying these skills by working on recording, promoting and releasing their own creative music project with an allocated budget.

Our programme will give underrepresented aspiring music professionals the skills, knowledge and network required to build sustainable careers in the music industry. The successful applicant will help launch and manage ‘The Qube Incubator’, a programme created to identify and develop early-stage talent, and receive training and mentorship from industry professionals.
